Bucks Hornets Club Philosophy

The primary objective of the Club is the Development of young people to maximise their potential as basketball players and as individuals (on and off the court) and provide the opportunity for players to progress to Senior Elite Level players.

Aim: The Hornets aim is to be the best Club in the Country and to play the best basketball.

Opportunity: Everyone has the opportunity to play  for the Hornets.

Hard Work and Good Attitude: Ability needs these 2 fundamentals to succeed.

Lessons for Life: Team work, leadership, attitude, hard work, commitment, respect for others, self  respect, being magnanimous in victory and graceful in defeat.

Hornets Players Getting International Exposure:

Spain – A mixture of Hornets under 16 and Under 18s will be playing in Barcelona once again. In August 2011, 2 Hornets teams competed in a tournament held in 30 courts in 15 towns. The Hornets teams will be competing against top teams from around Europe.

Along with playing against ACB Junior teams, Hornets got to watch the top men’s ACB teams in the Spanish first division teams, FC Barcelona, DKV Joventut, Badalona, Assignia Manresa and CAI Zaragoza) in the evenings.

One of hornets biggest aims is develop well rounded players and develop players to be able to play in different setting/ teams, so its great to offer players international basketball experience. In recent Hornets tours players have had great exposure in Bulgaria, France, Spain and also Playing AAU basketball in the USA.

Players and coaches have kept in contact with teams and agents, building  strong links that has resulted  in placements and scholarships for Hornets players.

Hornets Community:

Hornets are continuing coaching in primary/secondary and private schools. Hornets have formed great links with local schools, and are looking forward to delivering into more schools. If you are keen for basketball coaching in your school- contact lmcarthy@buckshornets.co.uk.

Making pathways: Coaching in Schools has linked in fantastically well, with the Hornets Junior Academy. Year 5/6/7 are developing their skills and fundamentals in fun active sessions. The Hornets community is getting bigger and bigger, with players travelling from surrounding counties to join and train with the Hornets.
