Who we areThe primary objective of our Club is the development of young people to maximise their potential as basketball players and as individuals, on and off the court, and to provide the opportunity for players to progress into Senior Elite Level players.
One of Hornets biggest aims is to develop well rounded players who are able to play in different setting/ teams. Starting with taster sessions in one of our satellite training sessions, keen and talented players can progress through local leagues and on to National League teams. Many of our National League players go on to represent their region, participating in England Basketball development programmes. We also have players in England youth team squads. What we valueOur Aim:
The Hornets aim is to produce elite performers on and off the court. Inspiring young people to play the best basketball possible and to have fun whilst we do it. Opportunity: Everyone has the opportunity to play for the Hornets. Hard Work and Good Attitude: Hard work beats potential when potential fails to work hard. We expect a positive attitude from all of our players towards their own development. Lessons for Life: Team work, leadership, attitude, hard work, commitment, respect for others, self respect, being magnanimous in victory and gracious in defeat. |
The story so far... |
Bucks Hornets was formed in 2008 with one team of U14 boys from Aylesbury, Milton Keynes and the surrounding area, with the aim of producing elite basketball players and a successful Junior National League club. In their rookie season the team went on to win the South II Region and reach the Elite 8 in the National Playoffs. In 2009, the club expanded to 3 teams of U14 and U15 boys, and U14 girls.
We are proud to work closely with Aylesbury High School, Aylesbury Grammar, Aylesbury Vale Academy, Sir Henry Floyd Grammar, The Grange, Princes Risborough and other local schools and colleges. The club has continued to grow it's links within the local community, setting up satellite clubs in junior schools and for more senior players who are new to the game. Hornets players come from: Aylesbury, Milton Keynes, Thame, Oxford, Watford, Buckingham, High Wycombe, Berkhamstead, Tring and the surrounding area. South Region: Hornets are very proud that many of their players have been selected to play and represent the South Region of England at under 13, 15 & 17 age groups, with many others also being part of England Basketball Performance Pathway. Well done to all! England Training Squads & Representation: We are very proud to have had several players who have been invited to be part of the National Training Squads at U15, U16 and U18. |
