The main aim of the Junior Academy is to develop the fundamentals and rules of basketball. In doing so providing a solid foundation from which any young player can grow to love and enjoy the game and even aspire to greatness.

We recognise that children at this age grow and develop at different speeds.  What is important is to bring out the potential in the player and develop all of their fundamental skills.

Training sessions are normally on Saturday mornings every 2 weeks, and is aimed at children in years 5, 6 and 7 and can suuport the good work being done at children’s local basketball clubs and schools.

We currently have 2 Junior Academies:, based at:

Aylesbury Grammar School – Coach: Lee McCarthy - lmccarthy@buckshornets.co.uk

Princes Risborough School – Coach dave Butler – dbutler@buckshornets.co.uk

Although playing matches is not the focus of this age group, we do enter team into the Bucks Basketball League at U12, and where appropriate U14 to give players the opportunity to put into practice what they have have been leaning in their training, as well as the fun of meeting and playing with other teams.  These players are often also involved with other local teams in the area, which again provides additional training and playing opportunities in the Bucks Basketball League.

The Club also has links with Princes Risborough School, whose U12′s Girls compete in the Bucks Basketball League wearing Hornets colours.
