Sunday saw the U16 girls travel to Ipswich for their second away match of the weekend. A strong side, 4th in the table, the girls knew they had their work cut out, but the win on Saturday vs Hounslow Hawks gave the Hornets girls the belief they needed to put in a good performance.

Ipswich started strong and gained an early lead, 16 – 7 up after the first quarter. After a quick pep talk Hornets pulled it back in the second quarter matching Ipswich point for point to break for half time at 31-22. The match continued to be close in the third quarter with Hornets scoring 10 to Ipswich’s 12. The determined Hornets battled on, with a bench of just 7 players finding a final push to score 14 pts to Ipswich’s 10 in the final quarter.

Another great perfomance from Kiylo Solgabade scoring 23 pts, Ella Messetter scored 12 including 2 impressive 3 pt shots and Ciara Belsham notched up 11 points despite her battering the day before at Hounslow.

The team showed great resolve, improved fitness and a more aggressive style of play that will put them in good stead for the return home match vs Ipswich this coming Sunday at AVA.
