The team’s improvements this year continued at the weekend, with an away win for the U16 Girls vs 5th in the southern premier league Hounslow Hawks.

Hornets started strong with decisive play in the first quarter. Great defensive rebounds by Ella Messetter, long passes to a speedy Kiylo Solgabade to drive up the court and neat pass offs to Morgan Davis proved a great starting play that banked early points.

Hornets continued to hold their lead into half time with strong offence and good defensive play from Charlotte Brooker, Mollie Baars, Mollie Kelleher and Niahm Gunn. Special mention to Ciara Belsham for her determined defence under aggressive 3 on 1 pressure for much of the match.

Hawks came back stronger in the third quarter, their very talented No 4 player calling the play and banking several 3 point beauties to bring them very much back into the game. The pressure continued into the exciting final quarter as Hawks closed the 10 point gap to 5 and then 3 with just 1 minute left on the clock.

Hornets held on to their lead and celebrated a much deserved win. Top scorers Kiylo Solgabade, Ella Messetter, Morgan Davis.
