IMG_5482Hornets 58 – Rockets 59

Our first cup game against Premiership side¬† Reading Rockets came a day after our first fixture supplying us with a test of fitness early on in the season. Our personal¬†training had obviously paid off as we were in contention the entire game. Our defence again was the highlight of our performance with their number 14 being the only real factor that we struggled to deal with. Our offence was consistent throughout with some good ball movement. On a negative note missed free throws by the entire team seemed to be too frequent so we know what the following training sessions will focus on. We broke into a 4 point lead in the 4th quarter and had our first defensive fault of the game by allowing 3 offensive rebounds and giving up a 3 pointer. They then proceeded to make a buzzer beater lay up to win the game by an agonising 1 point. Despite this upsetting defeat in a game we should have won it shows great potential for our team as we were on top of a premiership side. Top scorer was Baraka with 15pts and a notable performance from Josh Hughes being 1 rebound of a double-double and special thanks to Jayden for playing up 2 years having already played in an under 16 game. We should see the game as stated by the captain “see it as a learning boys”
