Sunday saw the U16 Bucks Hornets girls take on Hounslow Hawks at the Aylesbury Vale Academy in their third Southern Premiership match of the season.

Hawks were first to strike with early pace and Hornets struggled to find their rhythm in the first quarter as they trailed 7-13. The game livened up in the second quarter as the Hornets found their form with some great drives and strong defence. Key performances from Morgan Davis in creating offensive chances and standing firm in defence, Ciara Belsham scoring 8 pts using her height under the basket, and solid defence from Charlotte Brooker taking two powerful charges for her team as Hornets took the lead 29-27.

The third quarter saw the pace drop again, with both teams playing a strong defensive game. The scores were low, but Hornets still managed to hold on to a slim lead at 34-31 heading into the final quarter.

With all to play for, Hawks found a sixth gear. A stunning performance from their No 4 Katherine Boachie-Yiadom and smart set plays saw the team create key chances to take the lead, beating Hornets to a final score of 49-39.
Hornets top scorers Morgan Davis 13pts, Ciara Belsham 10 pts, Ella Messetter 8pts.

The girl’s next match is 2pm Saturday 7th Nov. at AGS vs Oaklands Wolves.
