U15 Boys Regional Tournament 2015

U15 Boys Regional Tournament 2015

On the weekend of 19/20th September, 4 Hornets boys were in action representing the South region in the National tournament. (Left to right: Robert Preston, Bradley West, Jaden Adigun and Juan Kunakah).
The boys did extremely well on their first day, winning their group with 4 wins from 4 games.
This set them up for a semi final the next day v London. The South were always in control of this game right from the tip and were able to hold off a late surge from London to progress to the final versus North West.
The North West, another strong team, started off very well in the final. This time it was the south who had to stage a comeback, which they almost pulled off but unfortunately it was just too little too late as they finished a very respectable 2nd in the country.
Bradley West was a star performer in both semi final and final, playing good defence, rebounding and then putting points on the board at the opposite end. Impressive considering he is a year younger.
Juan Kunakah showed that he is on the way to becoming an elite perimeter defender as he coped with the toughest assignments defensively and then also ran the pg position with poise. Again impressive being a year younger.
Jaden ‘the beast’ Adigun was exactly that. His physical play in the paint was unmatchable as he collected an abundance of rebounds & and 1’s over the course of the tournament.
Robert Preston unfortunately picked up an injury at the end of the first day which meant he was missing in the semi final & final but his hustle on day one was inspiring his team as he hit the deck for any and every loose ball, always retaining possession and then feeding team mates with assists for easy scores.
It was a pleasure to coach the regional squad this year and to finish 2nd in the country is a great achievement, even though we feel we could of had 1st. We had a very very talented squad and I’m proud that 4 of our Hornets boys were key features in getting us such a good result.
It’s now down to them to use this as a springboard to go on and achieve greater things.
Well done!!
